Throwback Thursday: Aging A Man in his 30s for Conciliation

We faced a huge dilemma when we filmed Conciliation. We needed a man in his 60s for the lead role and despite going through numerous auditions, we failed to find the actor that suited our needs artistically and physically.

So to solve our problem we turned to a man who had been our muse on prior projects and was brimming with desire for new acting challenges.

I (David) met Gustavo Heredia while studying acting at the Ted Bardy Acting School. We became fast friends and he was our top choice to work in two of our early student projects - "Cures" and "The Swan." Gustavo has always been a terrific actor who loves challenges and whose emotional world is extremely flexible and powerful.

When we were looking for options on how to save "Conciliation," we came up with the idea of potentially using aging makeup on another actor to make it work. Gustavo became our top choice for the job and from day one he was committed to making his performance work physically. We hired an aging makeup specialist Nina Baumann and the rest is history. Gustavo gives a wondrous performance in "Conciliation" and those who do not know his actual age may be fooled into believing that he is in fact a 60-year-old man.

One of the best moment in our filmmaking career thus far.
